Character's Full Name: Grace Williams
Character's Canon: Hawaii Five-0
Character's Canon Point: Season 2: Episode 15 “Mai Ka Wa Kahiko”
Character's Journal Name:
lovesherdanno
What would you like your character's tag to be?: Grace Williams
Character's background (their past and present):
Grace was born in New Jersey to her parents, Danny Williams and Rachel Williams (as she was known then) where they lived in a small but comfortable two bedroom and Grace was surrounded by her grandparents and aunts and uncles. Being around her paternal family and having Danny as a father, she learned the art of being affectionate with handing out lots of free hugs and kisses to her family.
Eventually, Danny and Rachel separated and divorced, which even though her parents did their best to shield her from the adult drama, she was affected by it. She was worried that she had done something to cause her parents to separate and she was weary about having to live in two homes. Grace lived primarily with her mother and had access with Danny. A few years after her parents’ divorce, Rachel met Stan, re-married and they moved to Hawaii to follow Stan as his job relocated him to Oahu, forcing her father to leave his job at the Newark PD and transferred to the Honolulu Police Department and then eventually the Hawaii Five-0 Task Force.
Similarly to living in New Jersey, Grace has primary residency with her mother and Step-Stan. She sees her father twice a week for visitation. While it’s not exactly known why Danny gets so little time with Grace, it can be assumed that it is Danny’ choice of career as Rachel has voiced her displeasure regarding it over the years.
Grace has a privileged life with her mother and Step-Stan. She attends a private school and her Step-Stan has put Grace in tennis lessons at a prestigious country club. Danny tries to balance it out where he can.
Shortly after her father’skidnapping recruitment into the Five-0 Task Force, Grace meets Steve, Kono and Chin for the first time at a Kukui High School football game. However, over a discussion of corn dogs and nachos, Danny notices two men with guns and after ensuring Grace’s safety, he and the rest of Five-0 attempt to intercept the gang shooting. Danny sent Grace home to Rachel in a police cruiser and it sparked Rachel to once again voice her displeasure about Danny’s choice of career and concern over Grace’s safety when she is around her father. Rachel then launched a court case to decrease Danny’s visitation, however, she later dropped the petition.
Unbeknownst to Grace and Rachel, Step-Stan was involving himself in some shady business which prompted Rachel and Grace to be carjacked. Danny investigated the case and ends up uncovering Step-Stan’s connection to the carjacking and was able to get Stan to confess that he had incriminating tapes of the Hawaii Housing Commissioner, Bruce Hoffman, of corruption. A very, very angry Danny confronts Hoffman and tells him to back off of Step-Stan or he will expose the tapes to the press which would end Hoffman’s career. He also issued athreat warning about putting a gun in the same zip-code as his daughter.
Grace is later kidnapped by Danny’s ex-partner, Rick Peterson, who had spent ten years in jail due to Danny’s testimony. Knowing that Grace would be the easiest way to hurt Danny and seek revenge, Peterson arrives at her tennis lesson in a Honolulu PD uniform and tells her that her father is in the hospital and he is going to take her to him. Even though Grace knows that she is only to be picked up by her mother, father, Step-Stan or Steve, her worry that her father is hurt and her need to see her father makes her throw the whole stranger danger lesson Danno taught her out the window and she gets into Peterson's car. At the time of entrance into Enterprise, her last memory will be being alone, cold, scared (but trying to be brave) and being restrained to a chair in an old storage rental facility hoping that her father will rescue her.
Very limited Wiki can be found here.
Character's personality:
Despite her parents being divorced, Grace is a happy and well adjusted girl. She has a privileged upbringing with her mother and stepfather, however, her father, Danny Williams, tries to balance it out.
She is shy and wary around new people, with the exception of her father’s teammates. Her father’s teammates are like family to her and she refers to her father’s partner, Lieutenant Commander Steve McGarrett, as “Uncle Steve”.
Although she can be shy, she makes friends easily at school and she has a lot of them. She is also involved in a variety of different sports and activities including swimming, baseball, tennis and football. Her Uncle Steve has described her as being scrappy, stubborn, hotheaded and loyal to a fault-exactly mirroring the qualities found in her father.
Grace’s favourite colour is pink and she loves Hello Kitty. She is an avid animal lover and has two pets, a rabbit named Mr. Hoppy and a male dog (unnamed).
Grace likes school but like typical kids, she isn’t fond of homework. Math isn’t her favourite subject but she loves history and gym class. She does enjoy reading and she is quite experienced with electronics (though her cell phone use and online activity is monitored by her overprotective father).
Grace doesn’t voice it but she is secretly afraid that her father is going to get hurt, or worse, on the job. His job is a dangerous one and she always worries about him.
Character's skills/abilities/powers: As Grace is human she has no special skills or powers and like other humans, she is prone to illness and injury. That being said, due to her fathers teaching her, Grace is skilled at poker. She also has the ability to melt her father’s heart with her big brown eyes. Even Uncle Steve isn’t immune to those eyes!
Any special equipment your character is bringing along? This includes weaponry, magic items, etc.: Grace has nothing on her person except her tennis outfit and shoes that she was wearing at the time she is taken from her canon point.
Are you bringing your character to
ten_fwd from another game? If you are, which game?: No.
If you answered yes above, briefly summarize how they were changed by and what challenges they faced in the climate of their previous game(s): N/A
Why do you want to play this character in Ten Forward, and what do you plan to do with them?
Well, since Danny has been brought to the game, he needs his daughter. If he doesn’t have his daughter with him or knows that she is safe, he will tear the ship apart until he finds a way back to her or Steve McGarrett “borrows” Danny’s handcuffs and forces Danny to sit tight and calm down. So it is for the greater good of everyone’s sanity that he be reunited with his daughter.Though her being abducted in the first place is not going to sit well, but minor details!
Grace is fairly young and she is shy when meeting new people. I’d like her to learn to gain some confidence, learn some new skills and make some friends as she explores her new environment.
Writing Sample #1:
When the school bell rang, Grace gathered her books from her locker before rushing outside. Danno was going to pick her up and they were going to go out for dinner and she had been looking forward to it all day! She loved the time that she spent with Danno and they always had fun together, even though Danno did the boring adult things like making her do her homework and forcing her to eat her vegetables. Grace forced herself to walk through the halls of the school and not run as she knew she’d get into trouble if she was running through the halls. Pushing through the doors of the school, she stopped dead in her tracks, confused as she looked around. This was definitely not Hawaii, or her school and her father was not outside waiting for her.
Trying to remain calm, she sat down on the stairs and rifled through her backpack until she found her cell phone but to her dismay, when she tried to dial her father’s number, her cell phone wouldn’t work. She then tried to dial her Uncle Steve’s number but again, the phone wouldn’t work. Taking a few deep breaths in an attempt to push back the panic that was threatening to overwhelm her. She knew that wherever she was, her Danno would find her. It was only a matter of time. She just had to remain calm and be brave while she waited for him.
Grace sat on the steps for a few minutes, weighing her options. What was going on? How was she suddenly in a new place that was not Hawaii? Was she dreaming? That’s what this had to be right? A nightmare? Grace would have to lay off her secret stash sour gummy bears before bed which was totally not under her bed right now..
Grace sat and waited for a few minutes. She knew she should stay right where she was so Danno could find her when he showed but Grace also knew that it’d be dark soon and she really didn’t want to be sitting here alone. Standing, Grace slung her backpack over her shoulder started walking, hoping that she could find someone who could explain what was going on and maybe they could give her directions to the police station. Hopefully the police could help her contact her father who could come get her and take her home.

[There is the sound of whimpering of a frightened 9 year old girl as water can be heard lapping against the ferry.]
Mister? Where are you taking me? Where are we?
[Moment of nothing but silence]
Danno? Uncle Steve?
You better take me home right now Mister because my Danno is a detective and he will find me and he'll take you to jail! [Grace is trying to be brave but her voice is full of fear]
[The sound of the ferry arriving to the dock is heard and there is rustling as Grace picks her belongings up in a hurry. Suddenly the heart wrenching screams of pain from this little girl is heard as she has the letter "N" carved into her upper left arm. Next, the sounds of things crashing onto the dock is heard as she drops everything in her hands as she falls onto the dock due to the pain. The screams eventually turn into crying.]
Danno?! I'm scared! [Sobbing can be heard, turning into whimpers of panic as she reacts to seeing the blood on her arm from the carving.] Danno, I want to go home!
[Audio cuts out]
Third Person Sample:
Grace had been looking forward to Friday all week. She had been marking the days off on her school agenda and it gave her something to look forward to while she spent her days in school where she was consistently being picked on by the local kids and she had her lunch stolen three times with the teachers not making any efforts to make it stop. Grace hadn't told Danno about it though as she didn't want to be the kid that tells on everyone else as it'd make things worse. Instead, she was just going to grin in bear it and count down the days until summer break.
Having made some friends with the fellow refugee kids gave Grace a brief respite and she was looking forward to getting to know Molly better. Molly seemed cool over the network and Grace hoped that they would become good friends and she was ecstatic to have been invited over for a sleepover.
She had to admit that she was a tiny bit nervous about leaving Danno overnight for the first time since arriving here but she knew that he was only a call away if she needed something. But even though she was slightly nervous, she knew that she was going to have a great time with Molly and in the morning, with the Arcturus and his magical game of soccer.
After school let out for the day, Grace went home to dump her school bag and grab her overnight bag and Danno walked her to Molly's house where she rang the doorbell and eagerly waited for someone to answer the door.
Marks: Grace is still young so she hasn't had much opportunity to be corrupted by the big bad world. She will have the letter "N" for Naive carved in her upper left arm. Her innocence and perhaps too trusting nature could lead others (aka her father, Danny) to do something bad or they will regret later.
